Samsung launched the Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic smartwatch in India earlier this year, and today the company has launched two premium models of the Gear S2 Classic, one encased in 18K Rose Gold and another in Platinum, along with a White edition of Gear S2 in the country.
The Samsung Gear S2 Classic 18K Rose Gold and Platinum models are priced at Rs. 34,900, each, while the Gear S2 White model costs Rs. 24,300. With the new addition, the Gear S2 Classic is now available in India in five variants – Gear S2 Classic Black, Gear S2
Classic Rose Gold, Gear S2 Classic Platinum, Gear S2 White and Gear S2
Black.
In addition, Samsung has also announced a couple of new apps, games and dial faces for these smartwatches. The new apps and games include –
- Uber for Gear app - Lets you locate, book and confirm cabs right from your wrist
- My Notes in Gear - Lets you take notes from the smartwatch
- G'Night sleep tracking app - Analyses your sleep cycles
- Xenozu - YouTube browsing app for the Gear S2
- Games - Hextris, Vroom Rider and Hangman (you can use the Gear S2s rotating bezel as controller)
Samsung also released a wider catalogue of dial faces for the Gear S2 wearables, including visual animated art of peanuts and functional dial faces that can display weather, moon phases, health goals, reminders and notifications, all in one screen.

Samsung has launched Gear S2 and Gear S2 classic smartwatches in India. The Gear S2 comes in Dark Grey color with Silver case and sporty band and Gear S2 classic comes with a Black case with leather band.
The Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic run on Samsung's home grown Tizen based wearable platform and sports a display with rotating bezels that allows users to scroll, zoom in/out and more. They also have home and back button to access apps and notifications.
Samsung's Gear S2 range sports a 1.2-inch circular Super AMOLED display with 360 x 360 pixel resolution (~302ppi) and is powered by 1GHz dual-core processor with 512MB RAM and 4GB storage. They are IP67 certified for dust and water resistant.They also features an accelerometer, gyroscope, heart rate sensor, ambient light sensor, and barometer. The smartwatches are backed by a 250mAh battery that supports wireless charging.
For fitness enthusiasts, the Gear S2 smartwatches offer tracking daily
activity like water and caffeine intake, measuring your pulse, steps,
calories and more.
They connect with compatible devices (Samsung device running Android 4.3 and above, non-Samsung devices running 4.4 or above, and having atleast 1.5GB RAM) via Bluetooth 4.1 LE, and offer NFC support for mobile payments.
The Samsung Gear S2 and Gear S2 classic are priced at Rs. 24,300 and Rs. 25,800 respectively, and will be available from Samsung retail stores and exclusively from Flipkart starting today. Samsung will also be offering several band options for the Gear S2 smartwatches, which will be sold separately. The latest 18K Rose Gold and Titanium variants that was introduced at CES will be released in the country by end of February.
Samsung at its IFA event in Berlin last week revealed more details about the Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic smartwatches. They will be compatible with Android devices running Android 4.4 KitKat or up with 1.5GB RAM and above. The first Gear S watches compatibility was limited to some Samsung devices only.
Samsung also published a list of Android mobile devices that will
be compatible with Gear S2 wearable, and it includes popular handsets
such as the HTC One M9, Huawei Ascend Mate 7, LG G4, Motorola Moto X (Gen 2),
Nexus 6, Oppo R7, Sony Xperia Z3, and the Asus ZenFone 2, among others.

The new Gear S2 and Gear S2 classic will be available at EUR 349 ($390 | Rs. 26,000) and the Gear S2 classic will cost 399 Euros ($445 | Rs. 30,000) in in Finland. It will also be available in Denmark at 2,599 SEK (Rs. 20,500) for the Gear S2 and 2,999 SEK (Rs. 24,000) for the Gear S2. The sales will begin next month in these two countries.
Samsung also confirmed that Gear S2 and Gear S2 classic will roll out globally from October. There are no details about the pricing and availability of Gear S2 3G that has e-SIM support for voice calling.

Samsung promises two to three days of battery life for the Gear S2, compared with Apple Watch's 18 hours.

dimensions of 42.3x49.8x11.4mm, weighs 47 grams and comes in Dark Grey case w/ Dark Grey band and Silver case w/ White band. The Gear S2
Classic has dimensions of 39.9x43.6x11.4mm, weighs 42 grams and comes in Black case w/ Leather band.
