Samsung Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic pricing revealed at IFA 2015


Samsung at its IFA event in Berlin last week revealed more details about the Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic smartwatches. They will be compatible with Android devices running Android 4.4 KitKat or up with 1.5GB RAM and above. The first Gear S watches compatibility was limited to some Samsung devices only.

Samsung also published a list of Android mobile devices that will be compatible with Gear S2 wearable, and it includes popular handsets such as the HTC One M9, Huawei Ascend Mate 7, LG G4, Motorola Moto X (Gen 2), Nexus 6, Oppo R7, Sony Xperia Z3, and the Asus ZenFone 2, among others. The new Gear S2 and Gear S2 classic will be available at EUR 349 ($390 | Rs. 26,000) and the Gear S2 classic will cost 399 Euros ($445 | Rs. 30,000) in in Finland. It will also be available in Denmark at 2,599 SEK (Rs. 20,500) for the Gear S2 and 2,999 SEK (Rs. 24,000) for the Gear S2. The sales will begin next month in these two countries.

Samsung also confirmed that Gear S2 and Gear S2 classic will roll out globally from October. There are no details about the pricing and availability of Gear S2 3G that has e-SIM support for voice calling.

Samsung's Gear S2 and Gear S2 classic sports a 1.2-inch circular Super AMOLED display with 360 x 360 pixel resolution (~302ppi) and is powered by 1GHz dual-core processor with 512MB RAM and 4GB storage. They are IP68 certified for dust and water resistant. They connect with compatible devices via Bluetooth 4.1 LE, and offer NFC support for mobile payments. It also features an accelerometer, gyroscope, heart rate sensor, ambient light sensor, and barometer. It is IP68 certified for dust and water resistant. The smartwatch supports wireless charging and pack a 250mAh battery with a typical usage of 2-3 days.
