Samsung Galaxy S7 camera details, images of display and camera module, release date (U.S) surfaces
A couple of images of the Galaxy S7 has surfaced online, which comes straight from its production line. Additionally @evleaks has confirmed the U.S. specific release date of the Galaxy S7, while an alleged Samsung employee has given some information of the device.
The first photo shows the front shot Galaxy S7, which is a camouflaged unit for developers so that they can run tests on the device, without being able to see or leak the design. The Samsung Logo is covered by a sticker, but we can see the home button and the capacitive keys that has a familiar Samsung look. The bezels appears to be big on the display panel, this could be done to keep the actual design hidden.
Another photo shows a dozen front camera modules with the model number SM-G930F stamped on top. The SM-G930 is believed to be the model number of the regular Galaxy S7, while the F is region specific number. The front camera unit for the S7 has a connector that is offset towards one side as compared to the centered connector on the Galaxy S6.
Meanwhile (Via), a person claiming to be Samsung employee has revealed that all Galaxy S7 variants will have a black chassis to give them a premium look. Samsung is rumored to use a 12-megapixel rear camera with an aperture of f/1.7 on Galaxy S7. The employee also revealed that, by using a 12-megapixel camera, Samsung is focusing on pixel instead of pixel count. The S7 is said to use dual pixel autofocus, a technique similar to what Canon uses in its own DSLR camera. It reduces noise and make colors more vibrant. Also the camera hump is gone in the new model.
Samsung is said to market the Galaxy S7 for its ability to take great pictures at night. It will use some sort of slogan like "Own the Night". The employee also adds that the Galaxy S7 will be dust and waterproof, and have a bigger battery capacity. All the variants will have a dual SIM version, that can also support microSD card. The Galaxy S7 is expected to arrive in Black, White, Silver and Gold colors.
Lastly @evleaks sent out a tweet that mentions the Galaxy S7 U.S specific release date, which is on March 11. However, the Galaxy S7 will be unpacked on February 21, during the company's Unpacked event prior to the MWC 2016.
