LG G5's Magic Slot modular accessories detailed

The LG G5 is expected to come with Magic Slot that will support a mini-ecosystem of hardware add-ons and accessories collectively knows as 'G5 and Friends'. The LG G5 will have an accessory slot at the bottom, which would lets users swap the components.

According to reports, these components include a VR camera, a smartphone-controlled robot and at least - two modular add-ons - for photography known asLG Cam Plus and for audio called DAC (digital to analogue converter) that will fit into the Magic Slot, that has a removable button. The hardware components for the G5 will be controlled via a dedicated app called LG Friends Manager.

The LG Cam Plus is said to offer a better grip to the LG G5 and will include a camera button, zoom dial and flash toggle. This module also houses a 1100mAh battery. To recall recently a LG G5 photo surfaced online that showed a extension module attached to the back. The module is claimed to be the LG Cam Plus.

For DAC, LG has partnered with Bang and Olufsen to develop the LG Hi-Fi Plus with B&O Play. The smartphone controlled robot is named Rolling Bot and will feature a camera and a speaker. It will also be able to send signal to turn on/off smart appliances.

As for the VR camera, LG is expected to launch the LG 360 Cam, a spherical camera meant to capture 360-degree images and videos. It will pack 16-megapixel sensor and capture video in QHD resolution. The captured video can be viewed in a head-mounted VR headset- the LG 360 VR. The VR headset will feature nine-axis sensors along with a 83-degree lens with its own LCD display. If the report is true, LG will mark its debut the VR market.

The report adds that the accessories and hardware components will not be available for purchase until April this year. We shall know more about the Magic Slot when the LG G5 is officially unveiled on February 21 at MWC 2016 in Barcelona.
