HTC, Google reportedly sign three-year deal for Nexus smartphones

In January this year, it was rumored that HTC will manufacture Google's next Nexus smartphones. Now a fresh report coming out of China, HTC has signed a three year contract with Google's parent company Alphabet to make the upcoming Nexus smartphones. This will be the first time Google has assigned an OEM, to manufacture Nexus devices for three years in a row.

The report says that HTC will bring its Nexus devices based on Google's upcoming Android N, as well as Android O and P platform, in the next two years. If the report is true, HTC would get some much need momentum in the smartphone market where it is failing to deliver and struggling. HTC is already gearing up for the launch of HTC 10, which is expected to go official on April 19.

It's worth mentioning that HTC made the first ever Nexus smartphone for Google, the Nexus One, back in 2010. Later in 2014, HTC made the Nexus 9 tablet for Google.

As per rumor mill, HTC's 2016 Nexus lineup are codenamed T50 and T55, and will come with pressure sensing technology, much like Apple's 3D Touch.

Recently LG backed out from Google's Nexus program, as the company want to focus more on their own brand, after the release of LG G5.
