Acer's Chromebook 14 for Work has Corning glass lid and military grade body


Acer has announced an enterprise-grade variant of Chromebook 14, dubbed Chromebook 14 for Work. It is compliant with Google's Chrome for Work program, which allows deployments of the Chrome browser with IT-approved device management and security protocols.

Acer's Chromebook 14 for Work features a 14-inch display and comes with either HD (1366 x 768 pixels) display or Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolutions. It is equipped with 6th generation Intel Core Skylake/Celreon  processor with 2GB/4GB/8GB RAM and 32GB/64GB storage.

It gets a 720p webcam for video conferencing and includes SD card slot,  a USB 3.0 Type-C port, 3 x USB Type-A ports, an HDMI port and a DisplayPort. It comes with WiFi 802.11ac (w/ 2x2 MIMO) and Bluetooth 4.2 for wireless connectivity.

The Chromebook comes with a spill resistant keyboard and is military-grade MIL-STD 810G tested for durability. It has also been tested to withstand 60Kg of downward force as well as drops for up to 48-inches. It has a damage-resistant Vibrant Corning Gorilla Glass lid which provides a durable glass finish that can be customized with various images.

It measures 330.9 x 227 x 22.4mm and weighs 1.45kg. The HD display model provides battery life of up to 12 hours, while the Full HD model offer 10 hours of battery life.

Several models in the Acer Chromebook 14 for Work line (CP5-471) will be available in May through Acer authorized resellers starting at $349 in the United States and €249 in EMEA.
