Xiaomi's first smartwatch coming in second half of 2016
Earlier a report suggest that Xiaomi's first smartwatch would be released this quarter. Now Xiaomi's co-founder and VP, De Liu has confirmed that the company is indeed making a smartwatch, which it plans to launch the second half of 2016, and now this quarter as previously reported.
This is the first instance a Xiaomi official has confirmed the existence of the smartwatch. Unfortunately, Liu did not reveal features or launch date of the smartwatch. However, rumor-mill says that the Xiaomi smartphone with have a round dial, brushed metal design and health-related features including pulse wave velocity identification.
Recently Hunami Technology, a MI Ecosystem partner and the company that make Mi Bands for Xiaomi, confirmed that it is working on the Xiaomi smartwatch as well as the Mi Band 2.
In related, Xiaomi has scheduled an event in China on May 10, where it will launch the Mi Max Phablet, MIUI 8 ROM based on Android Marshmallow and Mi Band 2 fitness tracker.
