Apple iPhone 7 to include 3.5mm headphone jack, won't have smart connector
Earlier reports claimed that Apple will ditch the standard 3.5mm headphone jack in its iPhone to give it a slimmer design, but that is not actually the case if a new report is to be believed.
An image showing iPhone 7 components was published on Weibo a few days back, which shows a board that includes the 3.5mm jack. From the beginning it was rumored that iPhone 7 will ditch the headphone jack but this is the first time a report says the opposite. However, do note that the authenticity of the image cannot be confirmed.
Notably last month LeEco beat Apple in ditching the headphone jack, as the company's latest products, the Le 2, Le 2 Pro and Le Max 2 did not have the headphone jack, and instead used the USB Type-C port has audio interface.
There have been also rumors of iPhone 7 featuring a iPad Pro-like Smart Connector. However, a new report coming out Japan suggests that Apple may have decided not to include a Smart Connector on iPhone 7. The report mentions that Apple had experimented a Smart Connector on iPhone 7 prototypes, but now have dropped the idea.
For those unaware, the Smart Connector was first introduced with the iPad Pro and acts as a port for attaching accessories like Apple's Smart Keyboard.
