Google launches Play Store carrier billing in India, starting with Idea subscribers
Google has finally launched carrier billing for its Google Play Store in India, and Idea Cellular will be the first carrier to offer the service. The service will be more useful to people who don't have a credit card or debit card.
Idea subscribers can pay for apps, games and digital books on Google Play directly from their pre-paid or post-paid account. Post-paid users will see their purchases on the billing statement labelled under Google Play purchases, whereas prepaid users will get their phone balance deducted when making a purchase.
To use carrier billing, when you purchase an app, games or books from the Google Play Store, you will need to choose 'bill my Idea Cellular Account', when billing option is prompted.
Notably, Google Play carrier billing is now available in 41 countries aroud the globe and Google has 100 DCB partners.
