WhatsApp desktop app for Windows and Mac launched


WhatsApp last year in January launched it web client, which allowed users to access the service on their PCs. Earlier this month it was reported that WhatsApp is working on desktop apps. Now, the popular instant messaging service has officially launched native desktop apps for Windows and Mac desktops, letting you chat with your friends while your phone stays in your pocket.

The desktop app is simply an extension of the mobile app, which mirrors conversation and messages from your mobile devices to your desktop. The desktop app is available for PCs running Windows 8 or higher and Max OS X 10.9 or up.

WhatsApp desktop app offers native desktop notifications, better keyboard shortcuts and more. The UI for the native app is almost similar to that of WhatsApp for Web except for minor tweaks.

It can be downloaded from WhatsApp website from the desktop browser. After installing it on your PC, you will need to scan the QR code using the WhatsApp app on your mobile device. Note that, you'll need the mobile app running on your mobile device for it it work on desktops. With the launch WhatsApp is now running
across all popular platforms in app form.
