Xiaomi launches Yi 4K Action Camera with 12MP Sony sensor, 4K video support
Xiaomi has introduced the successor of GoPro like Yi Action Camera called Yi 4K Action Camera. As the name suggests, the camera supports 4K video recording and comes with a display, that was missing in its predecessor.
The Yi 4K Action camera sports 12-megapixel Sony IMX377 sensor (same as Nexus 5x and Nexus 6P) with 1/2.3″ sensor, 7P lens, f/2.8 aperture, 155-degree wide viewing angle. It can record 4K videos at 30fps, 1080p videos at 120fps and 720p videos at 240fps.
You can watch the recorded videos or photos in the 2.19-inch screen on the back which has a layer for Gorilla glass for protection from scratches. The screen has a resolution of 640 x 360 pixels with 330ppi.
The camera comes with Ambarella A9SE SoC w. H.264 codec, a microSD ard slot, dual microphones and 6-axis gyroscope for EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization). For wireless connectivity it gets WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 and is backed by 1400mAh battery, that promises up to 8 hours standby time or up to 2 hours of continuous video recording. It comes with a dedicated app for editing and sharing videos and photos.
The Xiaomi Yi 4K action camera is priced at CNY 1999 ($180 | Rs. 12,300). It also comes with a Bluetooth remote and selfie stick bundle that costs CNY 1299 ($200 | Rs. 13,000). It comes in Black, White and Pink colors. Xiaomi is also offering other accessories including waterproof case, UV protection lens with leather cover, which have to be purchased separately. The Yi 4K is available for order through crowd funding in China and shipping begins in June.
