LYF Earth 2 with fingerprint / retina scanner, 4G VoLTE launched at Rs. 21,599
Reliance Retail's sub-brand LYF soon after launching the Flame 5, launched the successor of Earth 1 dubbed LYF Earth 2. The Earth 2 offers mid-range specs to stand against the popular Redmi Note 3, LeEco Le 2, Honor 5C and just like other LYF branded smartphones, it offers 4G LTE and VoLTE support.
The LYF Earth 2 focuses more on security and comes with three security options, Pattern/PIN based unlock, fingerprint scanner below the display that can also launch favorite apps quickly by assigning different fingerprints and retina scanning option which is positioned on the front snapper.
As for the specs, the LYF Earth 2 features 5-inch Full HD IPS 2.5D curved glass display protected by Gorilla Glass 3 and is powered by 1.5GHz octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage, which can be increased via microSD card slot (up to 64GB). It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop and houses hybrid dual-SIM slots, which means the second SIM slot can be used either as microSD card slot or nano SIM slot, when required.
For photography, it gets 13MP rear camera with LED flash, Laser Auto-focus, and for clicking selfied and video calling you get 13MP front camera with LED flash and PDAF for quick focus in 0.1 seconds. You can also use voice commands for capturing selfies, switching between front and rear camera and more.
Connectivity duties are handled by 4G LTE, VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. It is backed by 2500mAh battery. The phone sports a 7.2mm thick aluminum alloy frame and comes in Green, White, Gold or Midnight Black color options.
The LYF Earth 2 is priced at Rs. 21,599 (comes bundled with Jio 4G SIM) and is available from Reliance Digital stores. The Earth 1 is currently retailing for Rs. 18,699 on Amazon India.
