Oppo R9S with metal body, VOOC fast charging tech in works

Chinese based Oppo, the fourth largest smartphone maker is reportedly working on the successor of Oppo R9 dubbed Oppo R9S. Notably, the R9 is one of most successful smartphone from Oppo, and since it's launch the company has sold over seven million units.

The Oppo R9S will have the same design as the Oppo R9, which means the R9S will sport a premium metal body with extremely thin profile. The R9S will be powered by Qualcomm processor, although the chipset name has not been revealed. We can expect Oppo to use Snapdragon 6XX series SoC in Oppo R9S. For reference, the R9 used MediaTek's Helio P10 SoC, while the R9 Plus utilized Qualcomm's Snapdragon 652 SoC.

Lastly, the R9S might feature Oppo's proprietary Super VOOC fast charging technology. For those unaware, VOOC can fully charge 2500mAh battery in just 15 minutes. Also rumors are pointing out that the phone will have dual-camera setup.

The Oppo R9S is expected to launch later this year. The R9S is likely to have an international variant just like the Oppo R9. Outside China the Oppo is selling the R9 as F1 Plus.
