Acer R11 and Chromebook Pixel (2015) gets Google Play Support

Google at its I/O event in May announced that Google Play Store and Android apps will arrive to Google Chromebook Pixel, Acer Chrome R11 and Asus Chromebook Flip.

Last month Google rolled out an update to Chromebook Flip that added support for Google Play Store and Android Apps. Now Google has rolled a similar update for Acer Chromebook R11 and Google Chromebook Pixel 2015.

To get Play Store and Android app support you'll need to be on the dev channel. You can enable Developer Channel by going to setting menu "About Chrome OS" and then switch to developer channel option.

Once the update is downloaded, you will have to reboot your Chromebook and follow instructions for signing into Google Play Store, using the same account, you use to sign into your Chromebook. It's worth noting that these are early beta builds of software, so the experience could be buggy.

As for the other Chromebooks or Chrome OS supported devices (Chromebase AIO, Chromebox desktop, Chromebit PC Stick), Google has already said that it will add Play Store and Android apps support for them later this year.
