Gionee M6 w/ 5000mAh battery, M6 Plus w/ 6020mAh battery announced
China based smartphone maker Gionee has expanded its Marathon series smartphone. The company at an event in Beijing, China announced the battery-centric M6 and M6 Plus, targeted at power hungry users.
The Gionee M6 packs 5000mAh battery, while the M6 Plus has a bigger 6020mAh battery. Both phones have 9V/2A fast charging support with dual charging chip, which as per Gionee offers faster, safer and cooler charging. They can also be used as power banks to charge other devices with a faster 1.2A output.
In addition to large batteries, the Gionee M6 and M6 Plus also offers enhanced security features. The China variant of these phones pack encrypted chips to secure a user’s personal data and also for secured calls and SMS. In international markets including India, the M6 and M6 Plus will be launched with fingerprint sensors which are embedded into home buttons.
Designwise, the Gionee M6 and M6 Plus offers a premium aerospace-grade aluminum unibody design with zircon sand surface coating that offers a smooth finish.
As for the specificiation, the Gionee M6 comes with 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) Super AMOLED 2.5D curved glass display and is powered by octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor backed by Mali T860 MP2 GPU and 4GB RAM. It comes in two storage variants: 64GB and 128GB, and the storage can be expanded via microSD card. The dual-SIM phone runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Amigo OS 3.2 on top and supports 4G LTE, VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS.
For photography, it gets 13-megapixel Sony IMX258 rear camera with LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, 1.12um pixel size and 5P lens. On the front there's 8-megapixel Omnivsion OV8856 camera for clicking selfies and video calling.
The Gionee M6 Plus comes with a bigger 6-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) Super AMOLED 2.5D curved glass display and 16MP rear camera with dual-tone LED flash. Rest of the specs are similar to M6.
The Gionee M6 64GB model is priced at CNY 2699 ($404 | Rs. 27,200) and the 128GB model costs CNY 2899 ($434 | Rs. 29,000), and comes in Gold and Latte Gold colors. The M6 Plus 64GB model is priced at CNY 2999 ($449 | Rs. 30,200), while the 128GB model is priced CNY 3199 ($479 | Rs. 32,200). The Gionee M6 and M6 Plus will go on sale in China starting from August 6 and August 13 respectively.
