LG confirms V20 is arriving in September with Android 7.0 Nougat
LG made a bold move with its 2016 flagship the G5. The LG G5 was first of its kind semi-modular phone, that came with modular swappable accessories called G5 and Friends. Even though the handset won accolades, the same did not happen when it was commercially released.
This was also reflected in LG's Q2 earnings, as the company's mobile business reported loss $132 million. This was due to increased marketing expense and slow initial sales of G5, and LG believes the sales will not improve in next quarter as well. However the company revealed plans for its second 2016 flagship, the successor of V10 and said it expects the device to improve the mobile division' business.
Now LG has officially announced the it will unveil the next addition of the 'V' series dubbed V20 in September. The company also revealed that the LG V20 will be the first smartphone from OEMs in the market to run the latest Android 7.0 Nougat mobile OS out of the box.
Apart from Android version, LG did not reveal anything about the features of V20, however it did mention the V20 will "set the standard for premium phone" with its "enhanced multimedia capabilities"
Some of the highlighting feature of V10 was its innovative secondary always on screen above the main screen, military grade durable body, dual front camera and audio quality (Hi-Fi 32-bit Digital to Analog converter). We can expect LG to incorporate these features and upgraded specs in V20 as well.
