Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge gets price cut in India

Soon after launching the Galaxy Note7 in India, Samsung has slashed the prices of Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge by Rs. 5,000, according to Mumbai-based mobile retailer Mahesh Telecom.

The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge will now be available in offline stores for Rs. 43,400 (down from Rs. 48,900) and Rs. 50,900 (down from 56,900) respectively. At the reduced priced they are also up for grabs online as well on Flipkart and Amazon India. However, Samsung is yet to make an announcement and update the revised price on its e-Store.

The reason for the price drop, could be to boost the sale of Galaxy S7/Galaxy S7 edge ahead of Galaxy Note7 availability, which will be available from September 2 for Rs. 59,990. We can also expect the prices of Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+ and Galaxy Note5 to go down in the coming days.

To recap, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge was launched in India in March. Both offer same specs, with the exception of display and battery life. The Galaxy S7 has 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display and 3000mAh battery, while the Galaxy S7 edge features 5.5-inch curved display with Edge UX feature and a bigger 3600mAh battery.

As for the other specs, both Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge features Quad HD screens, Exynos 8890 SoC, 4GB RAM, 32GB inbuilt storage, microSD card slots, 12MP dual-pixel rear camera, 5MP front camera, waterproof body, heart rate sensor, 4G LTE, NFC and fast charging tech.
