Google schedules October 4 event for new Pixel phones


Google has scheduled an event on October 4 to unveil the are next generation of Nexus line up that expected to be re-branded as Pixel. The first two phones of the Pixel line up are called Pixel and Pixel XL.

Google has also created a dedicated website  – madeby.google.com - featuring a teaser video with the date October 4 on the left and the logo 'G' on the right. The event will take place in San Francisco and will kick off at 9am PDT (9:30pm IST), Tuesday, October 4.

As usual, Google will live stream the whole event on YouTube. Apart from the new Pixel phones, the search giant is also expected to unveil Daydream VR headset and 4K-capable Chromecast at the same event.

To recap rumors, the Google Pixel and Pixel L are codenamed Sailfish and Marlin, and are reportedly built by HTC. The Pixel will have 5-inch display and 2770mAh battery, while the Pixel XL will have a bigger 5.5-inch Quad HD display and 3450mAh battery. Other specs of both Pixel phones will be same including Snapdragon 821 SoC, 4GB RAM, 32GB/128GB inbuilt storage, 12MP rear camera and 8MP front camera. They will run Android 7.1 Nougat and include a fingerprint scanner at the back.
