The Galaxy J2 DTV is Samsung's first phone with Digital TV Tuner


Last week Samsung launched the Galaxy J7 Prime, a variant of Galaxy J7 2016 with bigger screen and bumped up specifications. In addition the company also launched Galaxy J2 TV in Philippines, an entry-level offering with Digital TV tuner, which allows users to watch broadcast television from anywhere.

The phone utilises Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting (ISDB) standard, which means the phone may not work in other countries as the Philippines supports the Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting (ISDB) standard while whole of Europe and America supports the Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) and Advanced Television System Committee (ATSC) standards respectively.

As for the specs, the Galaxy J2 DTV has a compact 4.7-inch qHD Super AMOLED display and is powered by 1.3GHz quad-core Exynos 3475 processor with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage, further expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB). It comes with 5-megapixel rear camera with an LED flash and 2-megapixel front facing camera. The dual-SIM phone runs Android 5.1 Lollipop and supports 4G LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1, and GPS. A 2000mAh battery keeps it running.

The Samsung Galaxy J2 DTV  has been priced at PHP 6,990, ($150 | Rs. 10,000) and will go on sale in the Philippines soon.
