Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 2 launched in India for Rs. 9,999


After launching a slew of Android smartphones in India, Xiaomi has now forayed into the country's smart home market with the launch of Mi Air Purifier 2. Xiaomi says that the air purifier is capable of effectively cleaning up the air of a large living room in just 10 minutes.

The Mi Air Purifier 2 has a tower type design and takes up one square meter area in your rooms. It sports a 3-layered filter that includes includes PET primary filter, HEPA filter and an activated carbon filter.

Xiaomi promises that the purifier can remove 99.9 percent PM2.5 particles (dangerous air pollutants linked to various breathing related problems) like light dust, pet hair, pathogenic bacteria, and is capable of producing 10,000 liters of clean air. It offers Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) performance of 330 m3/hour.

The air purifier has auto, night (sleep) and manual modes of operation. In night mode it operates very quietly at 30db. It is also capable of leaning your daily patterns to remember your preferred settings.

The purifier connects to the smartphone over WiFi connectivity, and tests air quality using the dedicated app called Mi Home app. You can also switch modes, turn the purifier on/off and adjust speed using the app. The app also suggests when the air filter is due for replacement.

The Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 2 has been priced at Rs. 9,999 and will go on sale at 12am on September 26 via Mi.com. It will also be available on Flipkart starting October 2. The replacement filter will cost Rs. 2,499, which has a lifespan of six months.
