Android 7.1.1 Nougat update likely to roll out to Nexus devices on December 6


Google last month confirmed that final build of Android 7.1 Nougat will roll out to Pixel, Nexus and Android One devices in December, without revealing the exact date. Now a mobile carrier has listed the specific date and related information of the update roll out.

According to Vodafone Australia's website, the Android 7.1.1 Nougat for Nexus 6P will be rolled out on December 6. The OTA update will carry the build number NMF26F and will be 650MB in size. The site also reveals that Android 7.1.1 has security patch update for December 2016 as well.

The details even include how the update will be rolled out with 10,000 Nexus 6P users selected at random to receive the update in the first three days. Furthermore the update will be rolled out to 10 percent of remaining users daily over the next 10 days, followed by all devices being eligible to receive the update withing 14 days, that is by December 20.

It's worth mentioning that Google hasn't made the roll out details official yet.

The Android 7.1.1 Nougat features will enable developers to add app shortcuts, which is Google's version of Apple's 3D touch. It will also include data saving measures to free space, Google Assistant and design tweaks like circular app icon and image keyboard support.

Apart from Nexus 6P, the update is also likely to be rolled out toNexus 5X, Nexus 6, Nexus 9, Nexus Player, Pixel C, Pixel, Pixel XL and General Mobile 4G Android One smartphone.
