Android Auto is now a standalone app and works in every car

Google announced the Android Auto app in 2014, but it has not been able to attract users because to take advantage of the features, you needed a supported vehicle or stereo system.

However, now Google is rolling out an updated version of Android Auto app, which will make the service available for every Android users to use it as a standalone app, so that they can enjoy all the features right from their smartphone screen.

The revamped app acts more like a hub by integrating many of the apps you use while you drive such as music-streaming services like as Pandora, Spotify, Google Play Music and more. Google Maps with real-time traffic is also built-in to the app. You will also be able to make calls and send messages hands free as well.

The updated app also brings the ability to automatically start the app, when the phone is paired with Bluetooth. Google says that it will roll out support for the hotword 'Ok Google' in the coming weeks for hands-free access to music, messages, maps and mores.

The Android Auto v2.0 will be initially available in 30 countries in the coming days, where Android Auto is currently available on devices running Android Lollipop and above.
