Huawei Mate 9 Lite goes official with downgraded specs


Huawei has introduced the fourth member of the Mate 9 series in China. Dubbed Mate 9 Lite, it is a toned down and affordable variant of Mate 9, Porsche Design Mate and Mate 9 Pro.

Just like Mate 9, the Mate 9 Lite comes with dual-camera setup, but being a lite variant has a 12MP (LED flash, 1.25μm, PDAF) + 2MP (for depth sensing) unit instead of 20MP + 12MP found on Mate 9. The camera on the front for snapping selfies and video calling is 8MP. The other specs department has also been downgraded.

The Mate 9 Lite has all metal design, fingerprint scanner and 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) 2.5D curved glass display. It is powered by octa-core Kirin 655 processor backed by Mali T830 GPU and 3GB/4GB RAM, along with 32GB/64GB storage capacity. The storage is also expandedle via microSD card.

Connectivity duties on Mate 9 Lite is handled by hybrid dual SIM slots, 4G LTE, VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS. It runs EMUI 4.1 based Android Marshmallow and is fueled by 3340mAh battery.

The Huawei Mate 9 Lite comes in Gray, Gold and Silver colors, but there’s no word regarding its pricing and availability. However, it will arrive in two variants: 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage and 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage.
