Huawei announces Nougat update plan for its smartphones

Last month Huawei launched the Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro running Nougat based EMUI 5.0 . Now the company has announced its plans for rolling out Nougat update to its smartphones.

The update will also come as EMUI 5.0 on top of Nougat and Huawei is targeting Q1 2017 roll out. The exact roll out time frame is not known. The first phones in line to receive the update is Huawei P9 and Huawei Mate 8, followed by P9 Plus, P9 Lite, Nova and Nova Plus.

Unfortunately, not a single tablet and mid-range smartphone is mentioned in the list. Moreover last year's P8 series and Mate S are also not mentioned. But we can expect some of these devices to make it to the Nougat list next year.

EMUI 5.0 along with Nougat will focus on ease of use, improved efficiency and safety. Huawei says "With EMUI 5.0 user can activate 90% of the main functions in just two or three clicks. Moreover, thanks to “Machine Learning”, EMUI 5.0 is can dynamically optimize the most frequently used resources. It is also possible to manage the consumption of your device’s battery with greater ease and efficiency via the new intelligent system power management. Finally, EMUI 5.0 comes with enhanced security features, such as App Lock, which allows the user to ensure the highest safety levels for specific applications."
