HP ProBook x360 11 Education Edition is a rugged convertible laptop for students


HP has announced a new Windows 10 convertible laptop called ProBook x360 11 Education Edition, aimed at education market, designed to take beatings. The convertible can withstand falls from desk heights and survive daily classroom abuse at the hands of students, thanks to the MIL-STD-810G tested rugged case. It also comes with water-resistant keyboard for protection from accidental spills.

The HP ProBook x360 11 features 11.6-inch Gorilla Glass 4 screen with 1368 x 768 pixels display and is offered in touchscreen and non-touch screen models. It supports an active pen for note-taking, doodling drawing or other writing tasks. It also sports a 360-degree hinge, for using in various modes like laptop, tablet, tent or stand, as per students convenience.

It packs Intel Apollo Lake processor and can be configured with either dual-core Celeron N3350 or quad-core Pentium N4200 processors, with support for up to 8GB RAM. Storage configurations include 64GB eMMC storage or faster M.2 SSD storage of 128GB or 256GB. 

The convertible has 2 x USB 3.1 ports, a USB Type-C port, HDMI 1.4b, microSD card slot, Ethernet jack, 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth 4.2. It is backed by 41 Wh battery which promises 11 hours of run time.

It also comes pre-loaded with apps that will be helpful for students and teachers:
  • Take a Test app ―Creates a browser-based, locked-down environment for more secure, online assessments, for tests that shouldn’t have copy/paste privileges, access to files or other distractions
  • Set up School PCs app ― teacher can set up devices in three easy steps, even with no dedicated IT support.
  • Explorer mode ― uses the camera embedded on the keyboard deck to let students take video in tablet mode while viewing what they’re recording in real-time to make project-based learning and content creation simple and fun.
The HP ProBook x360 11 will be available in mid-December starting at $329.
