ASUS' new budget VivoBook S510 laptop has Kaby Lake, starting price of $699

Asus introduced VivoBook Pro 15 and VivoBook S5 laptops at Computex 2017. Now the VivoBook line is getting a new addition.

Called VivoBook S510, the laptop flaunts extremely thin bezels (Asus calls its NanoEdge bezel) for a 80 percent screen-to-body ratio, and thanks to the slim bezels, Asus was able to fit a full-size 15.6-inch display into a 14-inch laptop frame. The 15.6-inch screen has Full HD resolution and viewing angle of up to 178-degress.

Asus is offering the VivoBook S510 in two models:
  • Intel Core i5 7200U processor, 8GB RAM and 1TB HDD at $699
  • Intel Core i7-7550U processor, 8GB RAM and 128GB M.2 SSD + 1TB HDD combo at $799
Both models will have USB 3.1 Type-C port, a USB 3.0 port, 2 x USB 2.0 port, HDMI, SD card reader, Bluetooth 4.1 and WiFi 802.11ac for connectivity; VGA camera, backlit keyboard with 1.4mm key travel and Windows Hello-compatible fingerprint sensor on the trackpad.

It packs in a 42WHrs rated 3S1P, 3-cell Li-ion battery and Asus says that the battery can be charged up to 60 percent of its capacity in just 49 minutes. The laptop comes with a brushed aluminum chassis, and is thinner and lighter weighing 1.6kg, and a 0.7-inch profile.

The Asus VivoBook S510 is already available for purchase in the US with the Core i5 model available on Asus' eShop and Core i7 model available at Newegg.
