Google Pixel 2 rumored to be waterproof, get improved camera and a cheaper, low-end variant

Google's Pixel phones were one of the best smartphones of 2016, boasting beautiful design, stunning screen, fast processor, top-notch camera, latest Android Nougat software....but had a ridiculously higher price-tag, than its predecessors (Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P). However, it appears that the high pricing problem has been taken care of with Google's next gen Pixel smartphones.

According to a report from 9to5Google citing internal sources, Google is testing a budget Pixel smartphone, referred to as Pixel 2B. It is said to be a toned down version of Pixel 2 phones, offering modest specs and lower price tag. The report also mentions that, with Pixel 2B, Google aims to bring the Google experience and Google phone to developing markets, which are not able to afford the premium product.

Apart from Pixel 2B, Google is also working on the successor of Pixel and Pixel XL. Both will arrive with improved camera features, water-resistant body (IP67 or IP68), an advanced processor and higher price tag.

Camera was one of the main highlight of Pixel phones, and as per the report, Pixel 2 will feature the same 12.3MP rear camera as the Pixel, but will get advanced low-light photgraphy, and some new feature. Also, Google Pixel 2 prototypes are being tested with Snapdragon 83X processors, and others with Intel chipsets.

Similar to first gen Pixel phones, the Pixel 2 will also arrive with a high price tag, but will be $50 (Rs. 3,500) more expensive, which means the price could start at $700 (Rs. 48,000).
