Google Play Store adds carrier billing option for Vodafone, Airtel users

Last year Google Play store, as an alternative payment option to make it easier to purchase digital content, started accepting carrier billing for idea subscribers in India. Now the service has further expanded to Airtel and Vodafone as well.

With carrier billing Airetel and Vodafone subscribers can now pay for apps, games, movies, ebooks and in-app purchases on Google Play directly from their post-paid or pre-paid accounts. For postpaid subscribers, the amount will be reflected in the monthly bill (under 'Google Play Purchases'), while for pre-paid subscribers, the amount will be deducted from their account balance.

This service will be a blessing to people who don't have a credit or debit cards. Apart from carrier billing, Google Play Store offers payment options like credit card, debit card, net banking and gift cards to purchase Play Store contents.
