Samsung Gear S3 Classic, Gear S3 Frontier launched in India


Samsung has launched the Gear S3 Classic and Gear S3 Frontier smartwatch in India. They are priced at Rs. 28,500 each and will be available starting January 18. The Gear S3 Classic and Gear S3 Frontier were first showcased by Samsung at IFA 2016 trade show in Berlin.

The Tizen powered Gear S3 boasts built-in GPS to track activities even without a smartphone. The Gear S3 Classic features a leather strap for a elegant look, while the Gear S3 Frontier is aimed at adventurers rocking a rugged look with a rubber strap and military-grade protection. It (only Gear S3 Frontier) features standalone LTE connectivity and microphone  and speaker to handle calls.

Both smartwatches have standard 22mm straps, IP68 rating for dust and water proof along with shockproof and comes with over 1,000 watch faces to let you customize the appearance. The watches also come with the S Health app, Speedometer and Altimeter/barometer apps that help track day-to-day fitness activities.

The Gear S3 Classic and Gear S3 Frontier have 1.3-inch (360 x 360 pixels) circular Super AMOLED touch display with Gorilla Glass SR+ protection. They also sport rotating bezel for controlling the smartwatch without touching the screen and offers functionalities like accept/reject call or snooze and alarm. The display can also recognize handwritten text and convert it for messages.

Other features include Exynos processor, 768MB RAM, 4GB storage, heart rate sensor, NFC (for Samsung Pay), WiFi, Bluetooth and wireless charging. The wearables are fueled by 389mAh battery, which is rated to deliver three to four days of usage on a single charge.
