Acer Predator 21 X curved screen gaming laptop lands in India for Rs. 6,99,999


Acer has launched the company's gaming beast, the Predator 21 X notebook in India sporting a curved screen. It has been priced at whooping Rs. 699,999 and is now available for pre-order via Flipkart. Acer will only make 500 units available, and shipping will start December 18. It also comes bundled with a custom hard-shell carrying trolley case.

The Acer Predator 21 X sports a 21-inch curved IPS display with a resolution of 2560 x 1080 pixels. It also has Tobi infrared eye-tracking sensors in the display, which lets you control compatible games without using a controller.

The processing power is handled by 7th-gen Intel's Kaby Lake processor and has two 16GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card with SLI, which makes it VR-ready. It can be configured with up to 64GB DDR4 RAM and comes with up to four 512GB SSD,and has room for another 1TB HDD. To keep the machine cool during long gaming sessions, it has five fans with several heat pipes.

It includes 2T2R 802.11ac + Bluetooth WiFi module, 2 x USB 2.0 ports, 2 x USB 3.0 portsa USB Type-C port with Thunderbolt 3 support, HDMI, microSD card reader and 2 x DisplayPort for connectivity. There's an IR camera as well for Windows Hello secure login.

It has  full-sized mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX Brown switches, with programmable backlit keys, allowing you to customize the LEDs in 16.7 million color options. To offer enhanced sound experience, the laptop features  3-way (tweeter, midrange, woofer) audio design for Hi-Fi quality sound and is powered by 4 speakers (2 tweeters, 2 midrange) and 2 subwoofers to produce a full spectrum of sound.

The laptop comes pre-loaded with PredatorSense software,  that allows users to control and customize central interface, overclocking, lighting and fan control.

Misfit Vapor Android Wear 2.0 smartwatch launched in India for Rs. 14,495


Misfit, a brand known for its fitness tracker, unveiled its first smartwatch, Vapor, at this years CES. Now the watch has been launched in India for Rs. 14,495. 

It is available for purchase exclusively on Flipkart and sports a durable 44mm stain-finished stainless steel upper casing that comes in Jet Black and Rose Gold.

The Misfit Vapor runs Android Wear 2.0, and comes pre-loaded with Google Assistant. This will allow you to use the hot word 'Ok Google' to ask weather update, set reminders, navigate to a destination and more.

It has 1.39-inch Circular AMOLED display with touch bezel that allows you to navigate menu or access notifications without touching the screen. The watch's display can show time date, weather, heart rate, fitness data and more.

The smartwatch is powered by Snapdragon wear 2100 and packs  built-in GPS, WiFi and microphone. It comes with 4GB storage so that you can store music, which can be played via connected Bluetooth headset. 

It is swim proof and water-resistant for up to 50 meters and is capable of tracking fitness activities like steps taken, distance, traveled, sleep patterns, heart rate and active times. The wearable promises two days of battery life.

LG V30+ debuts in India for Rs. 44,990


As expected LG has launched its bezel-less flagship the V30+ in India for Rs. 44,990. The V30+ has a decent price tag for a flagship with powerful specs and modern features, when comparing to 2017's flagship from top guns like Samsung, HTC, Google Pixel, Apple and Sony. 

It will be available exclusively via Amazon India starting December 18 and comes bundled with a free wireless charger. LG is also offering one-time screen replacement warranty. 

The LG V30+ sports 6-inch QHD+ P-OLED FullVision display with 18:9 aspect ratio that's protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass 5. It has minimal bezels on the side for a higher screen to body ratio.

It is powered by Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform, and comes with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage, that's further expandable via microSD card. 

The camera department offers a camera with an f/1.6 aperture, as well as Crystal Clear Glass lens  for improved low-light camera performance and better color reproduction. The dual-camera setup consists of a 16MP f/1.6 sensor with OIS EIS, 3-axis stabilization, laser and phase detection auto focus, and a secondary 13MP f/.19 sensor with 120-degree wide-angle lens. The selfie shooter on the front is a 5MP f/2.2 sensor.

For security, it gets rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and voice and facial recognition for unlocking the device. It also boasts MIL-STD 810G certified case and IP68  water and dust resistance for extreme durability. It supports Google's Daydream VR Platform out-of-the-box, which means you can use the V30 with Daydream VR headset.

It is equipped with 32-bit Advanced Hi-Fi Quad DAC backed by ESS Technology's SABRE ES9218P chip. It comes with new audio features like sound presets and digital filter, which is normally found on expensive digital audio player. It also features an HD Audio recorder that lets users to use the audio receiver simultaneously as a microphone, and record dynamic range sounds from a whisper to thunderstorm without distortion. In addition, the V30+ comes bundled with B&O Play ear phones as well.

It runs Android Nougat on top of the improved UX 6.0+ and connectivity options include 4G LTE, VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, USB Type-C and GPS. A 3300mAh battery keeps the lights on, and supports Quick Charging and wireless charging.

Acer Mixed Reality headset launched in India


Last year in October, Microsoft announced that it will bring affordable Windows 10 compatible Mix Reality headset to market in partnership with various PC makers starting at $299 (Rs. 20,000). These Mixed Reality headset started shipping earlier this year in the U.S, Canada, Europe and UK, and now it has reached Indian shores.

Acer at the grand finale of its Predator league event in Bengaluru announced the the first Windows Mixed Reality headset for the Indian market. Sadly the pricing the was not revealed but it should cost under Rs. 25,000.

The Acer Mixed Reality headset comes with double-padded headband and adjustment knob making it comfortable to wear. It features  inside-out tracking, so you don't need to set up external cameras or IR emitter to have a immersive experience as you move with six degrees of freedom in mixed-reality.

It sports two high-resolution liquid crystal display at 1440 x 1440, 95-degree horizontal field of view, refresh rate of up to 90 Hz, front hinged display, 3.5mm audio and mic jack. The headset has a 13-foot cable to provide more freedom to move around, and connects to PC via HDMI 2.0, while a USB 3.0 connector downloads data.

The headset will ship with optional motion controllers that's equipped with buttons, sensors, and grips to let you interact with virtual environment using hand and arm motions. The motion controllers offer precise and responsive tracking of movement in your field of view using the sensors in your headset. The headset/motion controller bundle will cost more than the standalone headset.

System requirements
The headset requires Windows 10 Creators update, and Acer recommends a system with Intel Core i7 or AMD Ryzen 1700 CPU, NVIDIA GTX 980/1060 or AMD Radeon RX 480 GPU and 16GB RAM or more. The system should also have 10GB additional free space, HDMI/DisplayPort, a USB 3.0 Type-A port and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity.

Xiaomi Redmi 5A makes India debut, price starts at Rs. 4,999


Xiaomi's latest smartphone to the Indian market is its most affordable offering yet: Redmi 5A.

The starting price of the phone is Rs. 4,999 for the 2GB/16GB RAM/storage variant and Rs. 6,999 for the 3GB/32GB model. However, only the first five million units of the 2GB/16GB model will cost Rs. 4,999, post which it will be available at Rs. 5,999. 

It comes in Platinum Silver, Champagne Gold and Rose Gold colors, and will be available exclusively on Flipkart as well as Mi.com online, Mi Home Stores and partner strores starting December 7.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5A comes flaunts 5-inch HD IPS display and includes a dedicated reading mode to reduce eye fatigue. It is powered by 1.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon 425 processor and packs a decent 3000mAh battery. It runs Android 7.1.2 Nougat based MIUI 9 and includes dedicated slots for dual-SIMs and microSD card.

For photography, the Redmi 5A ships with 13MP f/2.2 PDAF rear camera with LED flash and 1080p video recording and 5MP f/2.0 front facing camera. It also supports 4G VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, and packs Infrared sensor.

Xiaomi has nailed it again when it comes to pricing and expect sales record to be shattered once again.

Sasmung Gear Fit2 Pro fitness tracker, Gear Sport smartwatch debuts in India


Samsung expanded its wearable line up at IFA 2017 with the addition of Gear Fit2 Pro fitness tracker and Gear Sport smartwatch. Now both the fitness wearable have been launched in India. 

The Gear Fit2 Pro has been priced at Rs. 13,590 and will be available exclusively from Flipkart in Black and Blue colors. The Gear Sport on the other hand will cost Rs. 22,990 and will be Amazon India exclusive and come in Black and Blue hues. Pre-bookings for both wearables will open December 4, and will be available for purchase starting December 11.

Talking about the feature and specs, the Gear Fit2 Pro activity tracker and Gear Sport smartwatch are powered by TizenOS and boast 5ATM resistance, which means they can survive water pressures of up to depths of 50m or around 164 feet in water, making them perfect for swimming. There's also a Speedo app to track and record swimming sessions.

The wearables can automatically track daily activities like steps taken, distance traveled, heart-rate monitor, calories burned and sleep monitoring. They also come with Auto Activity Detection that  can recognize whether you are walking, cycling, and performing dynamic activities like dancing to playing basketball.

Individually the Gear Fit2 Pro features a 1.5-inch curved AMOLED display with 216 x 432 pixels resolution. The core specs include 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS and 300mAh battery, that's rated to deliver up to four days of regular usage, and up to nine hours of usage with GPS on. 

The Samsung Gear Sport is MIL-STD-810G certified and features 1.2-inch (360 x 360 pixels) Circular Super AMOLED Always on display and has a bezel that you can rotate to interact with the watch. It comes with 1GHz dual-core processor, 768MB RAM and 4GB internal storage. It supports WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS and NFC (for Samsung Pay). It is fueled by 300mAh battery, supports wireless charging and is compatible with Android and iOS devices.

vivo V7 debuts in India for Rs. 18,990


The vivo V7 was introduced in Indonesia a week ago, and now it has reached Indian shores. The V7 has been priced at Rs. 18,990, and will be available exclusively on Flipkart starting November 24, while pre-booking opens today. 

It comes in Gold and Black color, and those who pre-book will be offered no-cost EMI, one-time free screen replacement, movie vouchers from BookMyShow, cash back for HDFC cash holders and exchange offer.

The vivo V7 is a toned down version of V7+, which was the company's first bezel-free design offering. The metal-clad V7 boasts a screen to body ratio of 83.6 percent, and has slim bezels on the sides. Similar to other bezel-free phone, the fingerprint scanner is located at the back.

In terms of specifications, the vivo V7 features 5.7-inch HD+ (1440 x 720 pixels) FullView display with 18:9 aspect ratio with Gorilla Glass protection 4. It runs Android 7.1.2 Nougat based Funtouch 3.2 and is equipped with octa-core Snapdragon 450 processor, 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage, that's expandable via microSD card.

For photography it gets 16MP f/2.0 rear camera with PDAF and LED flash, while the front facing shooter is a 24MP f/2.0 sensor accompanied by LED flash. The selfie camera offers features like Face Beauty 7.0, Portrait mode and Face unlock system.

The phone has dedicated dual nano SIM and microSD card slots arranged in a single tray, and supports 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2 and 3.5mm audio jack for connectivity. A 3000mAh battery runs the show.

Gioneee M7 Power with near bezel-less design, 5000mAh battery lands in India


As expected, Gionee has launched the M7 Power in India featuring a near bezel-less design and a beefy battery capacity. It has been priced at Rs. 16,999 and will be available for purchase starting November 25 on Amazon India in Gold (w/ laser-engraved finish), Black and Dark Blue (w/ laser-drilled finish) colors. 

However, pre-orders will go live on November 17 till November 24, and customers pre-booking the device will get six month warranty for free one-time screen replacement, extra Rs. 3,000 off on exchange, and 10GB additional data per month for 10 months from Jio on recharge of Rs. 309 and more. There's also no cost EMI on credit card starting Rs. 1,417 per month. 

Specifications of Gionee M7 Power
The main highlight of the phone is its design and battery capacity. The Gionee M7 Power packs a massive 5000mAh battery, which is likely to last for three or four days on a single charge. It has a near bezel-less design boasting a screen-to-body ratio of 85 percent. The front panel is covered with a large 6-inch HD+ (1440 x 720 pixels) Full-View diaplay with 18:9 aspect ratio. 


As for the other specs, the M7 Power is equipped with octa-core Snapdragon 435 processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, 13MP f/2.0 PDAF rear camera and 8MP front facing camera.

It runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat based Amigo OS 5.0 and also include dual-SIM slots, 4G VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, 3.5mm audio jack and fingerprint scanner.

Google Pixel 2 XL now available in India, price starts at Rs. 73,000


Earlier this month the smaller Pixel 2 went on sale in India starting at Rs. 61,000 for the 64GB model, and Rs. 70,000 for the 128GB model.

And today, its bigger sibling, the Pixel 2 XL has hit the Indian market. The Pixel 2 XL will be available online exclusively on Flipkart, and will also be available via offline mobile stores such as Reliance Digital, Croma, Poorvika, Sangeetha Mobiles, Vijay Sale and other stores across the country. Color options include Just Black and Black & White.

As for the pricing, the Pixel 2 XL 64GB model cots Rs. 73,000, and the 128GB model will set you back by 82,000. There's also several financing offers available on Pixel 2 XL from HDFC Bank, Bajaj Finace and other companies. Moreover, Airtel and Jio customers who purchase the Pixel 2 XL will get additional data benefits.

To recollect the specifications, the Pixel 2 XL features 6-inch QHD+ pOLED 18:9 display, Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB RAM, 12.2 MP dual-Pixel camera with OIS, 8MP front camera, 3520mAh battery and fingerprint scanner.

Other notable features are IP67 water and dust resistance; Active Edge function, which allows users to squeeze the phone to launch Google Assistant; USB Type-C port; NFC; Bluetooth 5.0; E-SIM slot; and pure Android 8.0 Oreo experience. Sadly there's no 3.5mm audio jack on these phones, so you will have to use USB Type-C enabled audio headphones. 

The Pixel 2 on the other hand has the same specs sheet, but has 5-inch Full HD display and 2700mAh battery.

UE MEGABOOM wireless speaker launched in India


Logitech’s premium audio products brand, Ultimate Ears has launched MEGABOOM portable wireless speaker in India. It has been priced at Rs. 19,995 and will be available in the country starting November 20 in Lava Red and Black Charcoal colors.

As for the features, the UE MEGABOOM blasts 360-degree sound with a maximum audio level of 90dBA. It has two 2-inch drivers and two 2-inch x 4-inch passive radiators, that jointly produce a frequency range between 65Hz-20kHz.

It has up to 100-feet Bluetooth connectivity range and also includes NFC, 3.5mm audio jack, AUX-in and a micro-USB port. The speaker also supports Google Assistant and Apple's Siri voice assistant. Moto X4 debuts in India, price starts at Rs. 20,999


Motorola is finally launching the dual-camera toting Moto X4 in India. The mid-range device will be available in two RAM/storage versions: 3GB/32GB priced at Rs. 20,999, and 4GB/64GB costing Rs. 22,999, which is much cheaper when compared to U.S and Europe (around Rs. 30,000).

The Moto X4 comes in Super Black and Sterling Blue colors, and will be available exclusively from Flipkart starting today midnight.

There are also several launch offers including Rs. 2500 exchange offer; up to Rs. 3,000 extra over regular exchange value on select Motorola smartphone; 10 percent instant discount on HDFC credit & debit cards; guaranteed 50 percent buyback value, EMI from Rs. 1,019 per month; and up to 340GB additional data for Airtel customers.

Huawei launches Fit 2 fitness tracking watch in India for Rs. 9,999


Huawei recently launched Band 2 and Band 2 Pro activity trackers in India for Rs. 4,599 and Rs. 6,999 respectively. Now it is launching another fitness wearable in the form of Huawei Fit Watch. The weabrable has been priced at Rs. 9,999 and is available from Amazon India in Black, Blue and Orange colors.

The Huawei Fit wearable comes with fitness tracking capabilities such as continuous heart rate monitoring, step counting, calories burned, sleep tracking and support for multi-sport activities such as walking, running cycling, treadmill and swimming. It also offers real-time coaching and training score. The data collected is fed into a companion app called Huawei Fit over Bluetooth.

The fitness watch also offers vibration alerts to wake you up, and even reminds you to move if you're inactive for too long.

Huawei Fit sports a durable 11.2mm thick aluminum body with IP68/5ATM rating making it water-proof and features 1.04-inch LCD black and white always-on touch-enabled display. It is compatible with Android and iOS devices and provides notifications for incoming calls, message and reminders as well when connected to smartphones.

The wearable is fueled by 80mAh battery, which promises six days of normal use and 30 days of standby time. It also includes 6-axis (accelerometer + gyro) sensor, CAP-sensor and ambient light sensor on-board as well.

Huawei silently outs Band 2, Band 2 Pro fitness tracker in India


Huawei introduced the Band 2 and Band 2 Pro fitness tracking wearable device back in July this year. And now the Band 2/2 Pro has made its way to India. Huawei has silently released both fitness trackers in India.

The Huawei Band 2 and Band 2 Pro has been priced at Rs. 4,599 and Rs. 6,999 respectively, and is available online exclusively on Amazon India in Black, Blue and Red hue.

The wearables have the same design and features, but Band 2 Pro gets some additional functions. The Band 2 and Band 2 Pro features all-day heart rate monitoring, and boast 5ATM waterproof technology for water resistant, which protects them for up to 50 meters under water.

They have PMOLED display, and is capable of measuring the usual daily activities like steps taken, distance traveled, calories burned and sleep patterns. They are compatible with Android (v4.4 and up) and iOS (v. 8.0 and up) devices. When paired with supported devices via Bluetooth, the wearables are capable of notifying messages, calendar reminders, alarms and more. Both fitness trackers also have a Breathing Coach feature that monitors and provides instructions on breathing for relaxing effect.

The Huawei Band 2 Pro gets additional features like V02 Max that measure the amount of oxygen your body can take in; built-in GPS provide precise data about how far you've run; TruSleep virtual sleep hygiene and Sports coach feature.

Both pack 100mAh battery, that is rated to offer up to 21 days of battery life on a single charge. The Band 2 Pro will offer up to 3.5 hours of battery life in GPS mode.

Bose launches QC35 II headphone with Google Assistant in India for Rs. 29,363


The Bose QuiteComfort 35 II was unveiled last month as the world's first headphone with built-in support for Google Assistant.

Now the company has launched Bose QC35 II headphone in India for Rs. 29,363. It is now available for purchase in Black or Silver color from Amazon India, Bose retail stores, BoseIndia.com and authorized Bose dealers.

The Bose QC35 II headphone features a dedicated Action button on the back of the left earcup that you can use to trigger Google Assistant.

However, first you need to connect the headphone to your Android or iPhone device via Bluetooth, open Google Assistant app, and follow the instruction. From there, just push and hold the headphone's action button, and start giving voice commands to Google Assistant. 



You can ask Google Assistant to make a call, get notifications about events, add an appointment to Google Calendar, check sports scores, get flight information, and more.

The headphones also offer active noise cancelling feature, and promises up to 20 hours of battery life. The Action button can be remapped to toggle different ANC settings such as high (to keep it on), low (turn it down) or off (disable it completely) using the Bose connect app.

Selfie focused Oppo F5 lands in India, price starts at Rs. 19,990


Oppo is bringing its selfie-focused F5 to the India. The China based device maker has launched the F5 starting at Rs. 19,990 for the 4GB/32GB model and Rs. 24,999 for the 6GB/64GB model. 

The 4GB/32GB Oppo F5 will go on sale first, starting November 9 in Black and Gold colors, followed by the 6GB/64GB Oppo F5 starting December 2 in Black and Red color. Oppo will also be launching Oppo F5 Youth in December.

Speaking of the specs, the F5 is Oppo's first smartphone to boast a near-bezel-less design and feature 18:9 aspect ratio screen, but as usual the focus is on the selfie camera.

The Oppo F5 has 20MP f/2.0 front facing camera backed by AI Beautification technology, that can scan 200 facial recognition spots to offer bokeh effects and beautify the selfie shot. The main camera unit at the rear houses a 16MP f/1.8 sensor and is assisted by LED flash.

As for the other features, the Oppo F5 has 6-inch Full HD+ 18:9 display with Gorilla Glass 5 protection and is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P23 processor paired with Mali G71 GPU and 4GB RAM/6GB RAM along with 32GB/64GB storage. The storage is expandable via microSD card.

Connectivity options on-board are 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 and GPS. It has dedicated slots for dual-SIM and microSD card. It runs Android Nougat based ColorOS 3.2 and is fueled by 3200mAh battery. It also has a fingerprint scanner, as well as face unlock system, for unlocking the handset.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2017) voice calling tablet launched in India for Rs. 17,999


Samsung is launching a mid-range voice calling tablet in India called Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017) for Rs. 17,999. The tablet runs Android 7 Nougat, and supports 4G LTE connectivity and voice calling function.

The Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017) sports 8.9mm thick metal body that weighs 364g, and includes Samsung's signature home button and menu button below the screen, however, there is no fingerprint scanner. It comes with a a feature called "Home Mode", which displays information like calendar, weather, date and more on the screen when the tablet is charging. You can even personalize the screen with personal photos as well.

In terms of specifications, the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017) features 8-inch WVGA (1280 x 800 pixels) TFT display and is powered by 1.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon 425 processor, backed by Adreno 308 GPU and 2GB RAM. It has 16GB internal storage, which can be expanded via microSD card. The camera department includes a f/1.9 8MP rear camera with LED flash and 5MP front facing camera.  A 5000mAh battery will run the show, that's rated to deliver up to 14 hours of video playback.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2017) comes in Black and Gold colors, and will be available from Samsung India eStore and partner retail stores across the country. Xiaomi launches the bezel-less Mi MIX 2 in India for Rs. 35,999


The bezel-less Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 has arrived in India, and we will be getting the Black + 6GB RAM + 128GB storage model. It has been launched in India for Rs. 35,999 and will be exclusively available on Flipkart and Mi.com starting October 17. It will also be available offline via Mi Home and partner retail stores across the country from November first week. There will also be 0 percent interest EMI scheme across all platforms.

At the said price the Mi MIX 2 will be competing with HMD's Nokia 8 and OnePlus 5. All these phones have the same specs, but Mi MIX 2 gets the innovative bezel-less design as an additional feature.


Design
The Mi MIX 2 has been designed by notable French designer Philippe Starck and has even more slimmer bezels than the Mi MIX. It has zero bezels at the top and edge, and the bottom chin's bezel has been reduced by 12 percent than its predecessor. While the Mi MIX had a screen-to-body ratio of 87 percent, the Mi MIX 2's screen-to-body ratio is a whooping 95 percent.


Just like Mi MIX, the main components of Mi MIX 2's front panel like ear piece, sensors, speaker and camera has been designed to fit the bezel-less design. It sports a ceramic body and uses Cantilever piezoelectric ceramic acoustic system that allows the sound to be delivered by the screen for calls. It also has hidden sound guided speaker with 50W high power speaker and sound guided tube, and ultrasonic proximity sensor on the top. The front facing camera is located at the bottom chin, and is slightly smaller than the one found of Mi MIX.

It features 5.99-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with 18:9 aspect ratio and is equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform, 6GB and 128GB internal storage. It  is fueled by 3400mAh battery, and supports fast charging via Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging.

Acer Nitro 5 Spin convertible with Kaby Lake-R launched in India staring at Rs. 79,990


Acer is launching the refreshed Nitro 5 Spin gaming convertible in India featuring Intel's eight generation Kaby Lake-R processor and discrete graphics card. 

Prices start at Rs. 79,990 for the Core i5-8250U model, and goes up to Rs. 94,990 with the model with i7-8550U processor and 256GB SSD. Both models are now available exclusively on Flipkart.

The Nitro 5 Spin sports a convertible design and has 360-degree hinge, which lets you use in various modes such as tablet, laptop, display or tent. It sports an all-aluminum chassis with back brushed hairline finish and red accents. It has backlit keyboard and the trackpad houses the fingerprint scanner to support Windows Hello log in.

It features 15.6-inch Full HD IPS touch screen display, and comes with 8GB RAM, 1TB SSD and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 GPU.

Amazon's Echo Dot, all-new Echo, Echo Plus smart speaker launches in India starting at Rs. 4,499


The rumors were true. Amazon India has finally launched its Echo smart speaker line up in India, including the all-new Echo, the Echo Dot and Echo Plus.

The Echo devices are integrated with Amazon's voice assistant Alexa, and you can give voice commands to perform various action. Alexa for India has been customized to better understand local pronunciations and intonation. It can also recognize non-English places, music titles, and names as well as local knowledge.

Amazon said that third party developers in the country are building new, localized skills for Alexa. At launch over 10,000 skills will be available for customers in India including streaming music from Savvan, getting news update from Times of India and NDTV, getting latest cricket score from ESPN Cricinfo, booking cab on Uber or Ola and ordering food from Freshmenu and Zomato. You'll also be able to book flights on Ibibo, control Philips Hue and Syska Rainbow LED lights and more.

The company also plans to bring Prime Music to the country soon, and it will be available as an exclusive preview on Echo, and promises to provide huge catalogue of songs and an ad-free experience. 

Amazon Echo Dot
The Echo Dot is a tiny speaker with a puck-sized shape, and has built in speaker. It features 0.6-inch tweeter and can also connect to other devices wirelessly over Bluetooth or via a wired connection using 3.5mm auxiliary cable.  It comes in Black and White color. 


Amazon Echo
It sports a cylindrical shape and is equipped with 2.5-inch downward-firing woofer, Dolby Digital and uses Amazon's far-field microphone technology and noise cancellation to pick up voice commands accurately from across the room. It also include an auxiliary jack for connecting external speaker. 


Amazon Echo Plus
It is a premium smart speaker that also functions as a smart home hub to make it easy to connect to compatible smart home appliances. It can automatically discover compatible smart devices without the need of additional hubs or apps, using a simple voice command "Alexa, discover my devices". At launch it will only work with Philips Hue’s Zigbee products


It is equipped with 2.5-inch downward-firing woofer and 360-degree omni-directional audio backed by Dolby processing, to deliver deeper bass and crisper high notes for enhanced audio experience. Similar to the Echo, the Echo Plus is equipped with far-field technology for noise cancellation,  to detect the wake word from across the room even in the noisiest parts of your home. All Echo devices has music playback controls at the top. 

The Eco Dot is the most affordable device of the lot carrying a price tag of Rs. 4,499. The second-generation speaker has been priced at Rs. 9,999, and the Echo Plus will set you back by Rs. 14,999. All three products will be available on an invite-only basis with an introductory discount of 30 percent (plus one year Prime membership), and will begin shipping from October 30.

Alcatel launches U5 HD in India for Rs. 5,999


Alcatel is launching a budget smartphone in India, called U5 HD for Rs. 5,999. The phone offers decent specs for the said price, which is somewhat on-par with Xiaomi's popular Redmi 4's hardware, except for the battery and processor.

Running Android Nougat, the dual-SIM phone, Alcatel U5 HD features 5-inch HD display and is powered by 1.25GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6737 processor backed by Mali T720 GPU. It comes with 2GB RAM, and 16GB storage, which can be expanded via microSD card.

For photography, its gets 13MP rear camera with an LED flash, while the front facing shooter for selfies is a 8MP camera, also assisted by LED flash for improved low light photgraphy. It supports 4G VoLTE and packs 2200mAh battery.

As mentioned earier, the Alcatel U5 HD has been priced at Rs. 5,999 and will be exclusively available on Flipkart starting today midnight in Metallic Black and Metallic Gold colors. The U5 HD will be competing with Xiaomi's Redmi 4 phone, which carries the same price tag and almost similar specs, but comes with Qualcomm 4xx series processor and beefier battery capacity.
