ZTE reveals the specs of Hawkeye crowdsourced phone


Last year ZTE announced Project CSX, the company's attempt to crowdsource new ideas for a smartphone. The winner was a smartphone featuring eye-tracking technology and self-adhesive properties and was called Hawkeye.

ZTE unveiled the Hawkeye at CES 2017, and launched a kickstarter campaign to raise funds for the smartphone, to bring it to the market in September.

At the time of unveiling ZTE revealed very little and basic details about the hardware including 5.5-inch Full HD display, dual rear cameras, fingerprint scanner, Hi-Fi audio, dual-SIM slots, expandable storage and fast charging capabilities, while for software it will run Android Nougat.

Now ZTE has revealed the entire spec sheet of Hawkeye and it appears to be a mid-ranger. It features Snapdragon 625 processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage and 3000mAh battery with fast charging capabilities.For photography its gets dual 12MP + 13MP rear camera on the back with optical zoom support, and on the front there's 8MP camera. Other features include USB Type-C, 4G LTE and NFC.

To refresh the unique features, ZTE Hawkeye's eye tracking technology allows users to scroll pages and images in the gallery using eye tracking, while the self-adhesive back panel allows the phone to stick on vertical surfaces (wall, mirror) to be hands free.

The ZTE Hawkeye can be ordered from Kickstarter for $199 (Rs. 13,500), and will ship in September 2017, given that the project is fully funded ($500,000 Kickstarter goal).
