Android 7.1.2 adds Pixel's fingerprint gestures to Nexus 5X

Earlier this week Google rolled out Android 7.1.2 public beta to Pixel and select Nexus devices. Android 7.1.2 was an incremental maintenance update with enhancements and bug fixes, but there was one another feature Google added for the Nexus 5X.

Nexus 5X users who have upgraded their phone to Android 7.1.2 beta are reporting that the update adds 'swipe for notifications' gestures which can be enabled from settings page, by going to 'Moves'.

The feature was initially introduced on Pixel and Pixel XL and requires the fingerprint scanner to work. Now Nexus 5X (running Android 7.1.2 beta) users can swipe down on the fingeprint scanner to bring down the notification panel, without the need to reach the top edge of the screen and swipe it down.

Besides 'swipe for notifications' there are three other 'moves' - Jump to Camera to quickly open camera by pressing power button (works from any screen); Flip Camera to switch between front and back camera by double-twist; and Lift to Check Phone, to quickly check notifications by picking up the phone.

Android 7.1.2 beta is yet to hit Nexus 6P, so it is most likely to get the gesture feature as well.
