Hugo Barra bid adieu to Xiaomi last month after three and a half years stint with the company, and will be joining Facebook to head its virtual reality division. Today Xiaomi appointed Manu Kumar Jain to succeed Barra as Vice President of the company.

Manu Kumar Jain who also co-founded Indian fashion and lifestyle e-commerce portal Jabong, joined Xiaomi back in 2014 to head Xiaomi's Indian operations.

Manu Kumar Jain will now be the Vice President at Xiaomi, along with Managing director for Xiaomi India.

Announcing the new appointment, Xiaomi on its Facebook page said ㅡ Under Manu’s leadership our operations in India expanded from just a small team, into India’s second largest smartphone vendor in the country with 10.7 percent market share, and the number one selling smartphone brand online with 29.3 percent market share in Q4CY16, as per IDC!
Manu, congratulations from the entire Xiaomi family on your promotion to Vice President of Xiaomi!

Manu Kumar Jain, on his Facebook Page, said ㅡ Thank You my phenomenal Xiaomi family! I am so glad I got the opportunity to work with the best team on the planet. This further solidifies our plans to work harder to make our Mi Fans happy.
Truly honoured and humbled!

The promotion of Manu Kumar Jain comes at a time when Xiaomi is riding high in the Indian smartphone market, grabbing the number two spot. The company is also dominating the online sales platform for smartphone, which helped it grow rapidly in the country.
