TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 watch leaks ahead of March 15 announcement

Luxury Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer is all set to unveil a new smartwatch on March 15. Now ahead of the release, TAG Heuer has accidentally revealed some details of the smartwatch on its official website. According to the information, the smartwatch will be called TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 and will run Android Wear 2.0, and features all the specs a 2017 smartwatch would pack.

As the name suggests, the TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 will be a modular smartwatch, which is the main highlight. The wearer will be able to wear it as a smartwatch with 45mm case with the Connected (smartwatch) module or swap it for a mechanical module (3-hands mechanical module or tourbillion) for a analog watch. Thanks to the mechanical module, the smartwatch will come with 'Swiss Made' certification, that was absent on the original connected smartwatch.

The smartwatch will also be available in a wide range of materials, colors and combinations. Apart from the two swappable modules, it will also have interchangeable lugs, straps and buckles.

Some of the options include rubber straps (black, blue, red, white, yellow, green, orange, and electric blue), calfskin/rubber combo straps (black, grey, and light brown), ceramic straps, and titanium bracelets. The lugs will come in titanium, titanium with diamonds, titanium with 18K rose gold, and titanium with a matte black ceramic finish. Buckles will be available in PVD or titanium.

As for the specs, the TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 will be equipped with an AMOLED display of unknown size, Intel-based chip and 4GB storage. It will also feature water resistance (up to 50 meters), WiFi, Google Assistant, GPS, ambient light sensor, NFC, Android Pay support and battery life of up to 24 hours.

The Connected Modular 45 will cost $1,650 in the US.
