VAIO outs Phone A mid-range Android smartphone in Japan

VIAO the former PC arm of Sony (sold in 2014) has announced a new smartphone in Japan called the VAIO Phone A. This is the third phone from the brand, after the 2015's Lollipop powered VAIO Phone, and 2016's Windows 10 Mobile powered VAIO Phone Biz.

Interestingly, VAIO's new phone runs Android and packs almost identical hardware and design as the Phone Biz. Recently another Japan based phone maker NuAns, ditched Windows Mobile platform on their new smartphone, which is an Android version of NuAns Neo called Neo Reloaded.

The VAIO Phone A features 5.5-inch Full HD display and is powered by 1.5GHz octa-core Snapdragon 617 processor with 3GB RAM and 16GB internal storage, which is expandable via microSD card. It gets 13MP rear camera with LED flash and 5MP front facing camera. Running Android Marshmallow, the dual-SIM phone supports 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2 and GPS. It is fueled by a 2800mAh battery.

The VAIO Phone A will go on sale exclusively in Japan on April 7. Like VAIO's earlier phones, the Phone A is unlikely to launch outside its home market of Japan. The pricing is not known yet.
