You can now send and receive money right in the Gmail for Android app

Google is updating the Gmail app for Android adding the ability for users to send or receive money, just like sending or receiving a photo or document.

You simply have to tap on the attachment button and choose whether you want to 'Send Money' or 'Request Money'. All this is done within the Gmail app, and will ease the money transfer process. The money transfer is done through the Google Wallet.

Recipients will be able to receive or request money right from the email itself. If they don't have a Gmail email address, they can have the money transferred directly to their bank account.

Sending money via Gmail is completely free on both sides. As of now, the feature is available only in the U.S for Android users. It was already available on the web version of Gmail (US & UK), and could be accessed by tapping the $ icon, that was placed next to the compose button.
