Apple's next iPhones to reportedly feature iPad-like True Tone displays


Apple is expected to lauch three iPhones later this year, two of them will be the successor of current iPhones ㅡ iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus ㅡ and the other a top-end model called iPhone 8 with premium design and looks sporting edge-to-edge OLED display. A new information of these phones has come to light.

According to Barclays research Apple's upcoming three new iPhones will feature the True Tone display technology, which is currently available on the 9.7-inch iPad Pro.

True Tone display uses Ambient light sensors to adjust the color of the screen and intensity of the display to match the color temperature of the light surrounding the area. This means if you're indoor or outdoor, the display will adjust itself to make it easier on the eyes. For instance if a room is dim, the display would appear warmer and yellower, while on a cloudy days it will be cooler or bluer. The True Tone display technolgy is somewhat like the Night Shift functionality which changes the color of the display to the warmer end of the color spectrum in dark conditions.

The "full spectral sensing" ambient light sensor for the True color screen o will be embedded into the display of the upcoming smartphones and will be sourced for Austrian semiconductor manufacturer AMS.

Apple is having big plans for it next iPhones, which marks the 10th anniversary of the original iPhone. Based on previous rumors the top end iPhone 8 will carry a hefty price tag of $1000, and feature all-glass design, OLED display and Samsung Galaxy S8/Galaxy S8+/ LG G6/Xiaomi Mi 6 like bezel-less screen. It is also rumored to support wireless charging and augmented reality capabilities as well.
