Moto Z2 Force renders leaks out, headphone port returns

Besides, the budget Moto C and Moto E4 line up, Motorola is also reportedly working on its next flagship the Moto Z2. Like last year, this time the Moto Z will arrive in two versions, the regular Moto Z and a tougher Moto Z Force. OnLeaks + Android Authority have today outed the CAD-based render of Moto Z Force.

To recall, the Moto Z was Motorola's first phones to sports a semi-modular design. Moto's take a on modular design was by offering optional accessories (or back plates) called Moto Mods, which connects to the back of the Moto Z via pogo pins, to give the phone extra functionality.

As seen in the renders the Moto Z2 Force looks very much like its predecessor, but with a few design tweaks. The new Moto Z2 Force will also feature the same 16 pogo pins, which means the existing Moto Mods will be compatible with the new flagship.

However first big change is the return of 3.5 headphone port, which was missing in last year's Moto Z series. It also gets a redesigned oval shaped fingerprint scanner instead of Moto Z's square. Moreover, the Moto Z2 Force will be Motorola's first smartphone to boast dual-cameras at the back, but it is not known, whether the regular Moto Z2, will get dual-cameras. The phone will also have dual-LED flash at the back, as well as the front.

Another thing to note about the rear side is that, the rear design of Moto Z2 Force is a mix between last year's Moto Z and Moto G5/G5 Plus. Instead of the 'caps' at the top and bottom, the Moto Z2 Force will have thin band flows the enitre way around. This is for the radio signal to get better access to the four antennas rumored to be on the inside.

According to Android Authority U.S mobile carrier Sprint will use these antennas to bring Cat. 16 download speeds to the Moto Z2 Force.  This means the Moto Z2 Force will not be exclusive to Verizon anymore, instead will be Sprint exclusive, and the chip utilised will be Snapdragon 835.

The source also says that Moto Z2 Force will have 5.5-inch display and most likely have Moto ShatterShield protection, same as its predecessor, but a slight larger footprint measuring 156.32 x 76.36mm, compared to Moto Z's 155.9 x 75.8mm. Surprisingly even with the addition of headphone port, the Moto Z2 Force will be thinner at 5.9mm (8.50mm with back camera bump), comapred to Moto Z's 7mm.

The Moto Z2 Force definitely sounds an interesting smartphone, as it is hardly missing out any features. The Moto Z was unveiled last year at Lenovo's Tech World event in June, and with the leaks starting to appear, one can expect the new Moto Z2 to be announced in June.
