HP announces Elite x2 1012 G2 2-in-1 tablet for business


HP is refreshing its Elite x2 line of Windows 2-in-1 tablet, designed for business, with higher resolution display, faster CPU, more RAM and storage.

The new Elite x2 1012 G2 comes with 12.3-inch touch display with Gorilla Glass 4 protection, bearing the resolution 2736 x 1824 (WQXGA+) , same as Microsoft's Surface Pro 4, Intel Core i Kaby Lake-U processor options (Core i3-7100U, Core i5-7200U, Core i5-7300U, Core i7-7600U) , up to 16GB RAM and up to 1TB SSD.

For connectivity there's USB Type-C 3.1 port, USB Type-A 3.0 port, headphone/microphone combo, microSD card slot, global 4G LTE, Bluetooth, and WiFi 802.11ac.


Other features include 8MP rear camera (w/flash), 5MP front camera, Windows Hello-compatible IR camera on front, digital stylus (HP Active Pen) support, fingerprint scanner, and Dual speakers on front powered by Bang & Olufsen.

It packs 47Wh battery, which is rated to deliver up to 10 hours of battery life, and supports fast charging technology promising 50 percent charge with just 30 minutes of charge time.

The design of the 2-in-1 tablet is same as its predecessor sporting a MIL-Spec tested case, aluminum body, built-in kickstand with 165 degrees of tilt and detachable keyboard. It comes with an HP Collaboration keyboard (detachable) with 1.5mm of key travel with backlit keys and large clickpad. The tablet measures 8.05mm thick and weighs 1.75 pounds and the tablet/keyboard together have a combined weight of 2.6 pounds.

The HP Elite x2 1012 G2 prices start at $1099 (Core i3 CPU, 4GB RAM, 128GB M.S SATA SSD) and will be available starting July.
