OnePlus 5 is manufactured by Oppo in India
OnePlus' highly anticipated flagship, the OnePlus 5 went on sale in India today (June 27) via Amazon India and oneplusstore.in starting at Rs. 32,999.
That said, it appears that OnePlus is continuing its support for Indian Governments' Make in India inititative, as the OnePlus 5 shipping in the country is manufactured and assembled locally. Previously OnePlus in partnership with Foxconn manufactured OnePlus X, OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T in the country as well.
The OnePlus 5 retail boxes in the country mention that it is manufactured by Oppo Mobile Private Limited at its manufacturing facility in Noida. This is no surprise, because, OnePlus, Oppo and vivo are wholly owned by BBK electronics in China, and OnePlus is reportedly said to be Oppo's sub-brand. Moreover, OnePlus 5 and Oppo's latest flagship R11 share the same design and has the same dual-camera setup.
For a quick recap of OnePlus 5 specs, it includes 5.5-inch Full HD Optica AMOLED display w/ Gorilla Glass 5, Snapdragon 835 processor, dual-cameras (16MP + 20MP sensors), 16MP front camera, USB Type-C, fingerprint scanner, Android Nougat based OxygenOS and 3300mAh battery.
It is offered in two variants: Slate Gray/6GB RAM/64GB storage priced at 32,999, and the premium Midnight Black/8GB RAM/128GB storage costing Rs. 37,999.
