OnePlus 5 with dual-cameras, 8GB RAM gets official

After numerous leaks and rumors, OnePlus has finally unleashed its next flagship killer, the highly anticipated One Plus 5. Like the company's previous offering, the new flagship killer boasts high-end specs and premium design you find on Samsung, HTC or Sony's 2017 flagship models at half the price.

OnePlus says the OnePlus 5 is the brands slimmest smartphone till date having a thickness of just 7.25mm. It sports a metal unibody design that comes in Slate Gray and Midnight Black color and includes a fingerprint sensor, that's hidden into its home button. The looks are similar to the OnePlus 5, including the dual-camera setup, but it does have a 3.5mm audio jack and an custom Alert Slider that lets you control notifications. Unfortunately, the device is not water resistance.

In partnership with photography benchmark group DxO Labs, OnePlus has developed the dual-camera system for the OnePlus 5. This consists of a 16MP f/1.7 wide-angle lens and 20MP telephoto shooter. The cameras are capable of capturing depth-of-field potrait images, that blurs backdrops and supports 2x optical zoon. It is capable of recording 4K videos and has f/1.7 aperture and electronic image stabilization. For selfie you're getting a 16MP Sony IMX371 front shooter, and can record Full HD videos.

Other specs are what you did expect from a high-end flagship of 2017 with the absence of QHD display. The OnePlus 5 has 5.5-inch  optic AMOLED display but its is still Full HD resolution. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 display. Performance is handled by Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform and Adreno 540 GPU along with 6GB or 8GB RAM. Storage options are 64GB and 128GB, but you don't get a microSD card slot.

Connectivity duties are handled by 4G with VoLTE, dual-SIM slots, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C, NFC and GPS. It runs Android Nougat based Oxygen OS that brings new features like a new Reading Mode, gaming mode and more. It is fueled by 3300mAh battery, and supports OnePlus's Dash Charging fast charging technology that promises a day of battery life with half and hour of charge.

Coming to the most important part, the pricing, the OnePlus 5 with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage have been priced at $479 (Rs. 31,000) or 499 euros, and the version with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage cots $539 (Rs. 35,000) or 559 euros. It is now available for pre-order on OnePlus.net in the US and Europe, and will go on sale starting June 27.
