Sony's PlayLink brings social smartphone-connected gaming to PS4


Sony at E3 2017, announced PlayLink, a new way to play games with family and friends. The new platform lets you connect your smartphone or tablet to the PS4 console for playing multi-player games.

PlayLink gaming titles are designed to be played in a fun and interactive way in a social setting with your friends and family, and the games collection vary from gritty crime thrillers to quick-fire quizzes. The games take advantage of the smartphone or tablet device’s touchscreen and camera capabilities. 

PlayLink games turn your smartphone or tablet into a versatile controller – you can swipe, pinch, drag, tilt, rotate or even snap selfies and draw crafty doodles, depending on the game. To play PlayLink games, you have to install the free companion app on your smartphone or tablet. 

Sony also announced five titles: That's You, , Hidden Agenda, Knowledge is Power, Frantics and SingStar Celebration.

That's You is an audacious comedy quiz game that features over 1,000 questions and challenges you and up to five friends to get personal and find out what you really think about each other. It will be the first PlayLink game, and will be available for PlayStation Plus members free of cost starting on July 4. 



Hidden Agenda is a narrative-driven detective thriller with chilling moral dilemmas that may determine life or death. Up to six of you can join in to make tough decisions about how the story unfolds, but not all of you will be working towards the same objective.


In Knowledge is Power you have to answer a variety of trivia questions and outsmarts up to five opponents. Franatics is an arcade-style fun and manic mini-game, where you and up to three friends have to face off in a variety of challenges. Bluff, battle, negotiate and co-operate your way to victory, but beware – mischievous host The Fox is also on hand to stir things up.



SingStar Celebration is the perfect playlist to any party, be it your birthday, New Year's Ever or Christmas, with up to eight players able to join in the fun. Use your SingStar mic or combine your smartphone with the SingStar Mic App to hit the high notes with upbeat tracks.
