Google's Gboard keyboard gets draw-an-emoji feature, phrase suggestions and more


Google Gboard keyboard for Android platform is getting a couple of new features that makes it more smarter. You'll now be able to draw emoji you wish to send.

Now in the emoji search box, you can tap the emoji handwriting icon to draw emoji directly on the screen. The drawing will be automatically recognized and show results for your emoji.



Gboard also gets a new phrase suggestions feature to predict what you plan to type next. For instance, if you're typing "looking forward" and Gboard will offer suggestions like "to seeing" or "to  it" as you type. Currently the feature is available in English, and will roll out to more languages soon.



Furthermore, now when you're searching in Gboard, the keyboard offers multiple results for you to browse through, making it easier to search and share in any app. Additionally, on a interactive results card, you can click through to go to Maps, call a business of watch a YouTube video. Just press the 'G' icon or magnifying glass in the suggestion strip to start searching.



Finally, Gboard gets support for more than 200 language varieties, and suggestions and gesture typing for Azerbaijani (Iran), Dhivehi, French (Belgium), Hawaiian, Maori and Samoan, and simple keyboards so you can type and text in Dzongkha, Ewe, Navajo, Tsonga, and K'iche'.

The new features are available in Gboard's version 6.3 for Android, and will be available for iOS devices soon.
