Moto Z2 Force gets official with Shatterproof display, dual cameras


Motorola has officially taken the wraps of its first high-end flagship of 2017, the shatter proof Moto Z2 Force. The main highlight of the device is the Shatterproof display which consists of a multi-layer design, and guarantees the display will not to crack or shatter when dropped, making it extremely rugged. It's also the brand's first smartphone to flaunt dual-cameras.

Design-wise, the body of Moto Z2 Force is made of metal and consists 7,000 series aluminum metal frame and is covered with water repellent nano-coating to resist splashes. It has a light-weight & very slim design measuring 6.1mm around the waistline. 

The light-weight slim design comes at the cost of a reduced battery capacity, and ditching of 3.5mm audio jack. It also gets the gets the 16-pin connector at the rear for the Moto Mods and front mounted fingerprint scanner with one button nav that lets you navigate the phone. All existing Moto Mods will work with the new Moto Z2 Force.


The Moto Z2 Force features 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED Shatterproof display and is powered by 2.45GHz octa-core Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform. It runs Android 7.1.1 and and comes with 4GB or 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage, that's expandable via microSD card.

For photography, it gets dual-camera comprising of 12MP RGB sensor and 12MP monochrome sensor. These camera two cameras work together to enable true depth of field for adding blur effect to the background or foreground of images. The rear cameras feature Sony IMX386 sensors, f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, laser auto-focus, dual-tone LED flash and 4K video recording. For selfies, there's 5MP f/2.2 85-degree wide angle shooter assisted by dual-tone LED flash to help capture better selfies in low-light conditions. 

Connectivity options include Single/Dual SIM slots, 4G LTE, VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC and USB Type-C. Motorola says Bluetooth 5.0 will be enable via Android O update. A 2730mAh battery runs the show that promises a day of usage, and is backed by Turbo Charging.

Motorola will offer the Moto Z2 Force in three variants: 4GB RAM/64GB storage for the U.S, 6GB RAM/128GBb for China and 6GB RAM/64GB for the rest of the world in Fine Gold and Super Black colors.

The Moto Z2 Force has been priced at $799.99 (Rs. 51,500) in the U.S and will be available in the US through all four major carriers such as AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon, as well as Best Buy and Motorola website. Pre-orders are now open, and the phone will be released on August 10. Also Motorola is offering free Moto Insta-Share Projector Moto Mod for purchases made till September 9 2017.

It will also roll out to other markets including Mexico, Brazil, Middle East, Africa, and various countries in Europe later this summer.
