Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P will get security updates until November 2018

The LG made Nexus 5X and Huawei made Nexus 6P were promised monthly security update till September 2018. However, Google is now extending the period by two months, and the devices will receive security update till November 2018. After the said period there is not guaranteed security update from Google.

Usually Google devices gets Android version update for two years and security update for three years, from when they first became available on Google Play Store. The reason behind the extension is not known, and only the Nexus 6P and 5X has received the extension.

The Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, which shipped with Marshmallow, has already received two major Android upgrades: Nougat and Oreo, and won't be getting future OS upgrade after September 2017, as they are two years old. But will now get security update till November 2018.
