Nokia 3 starts receiving Android 7.1.1

The Nokia 3 is the cheapest smartphone offering from the resurrected Nokia brand. While the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 ran Android 7.1.1 out of the box, the Nokia 3 shipped with Android 7.0 Nougat. However, the brand promised update to Android 7.1.1 by the end of August.

Now keeping its promise Nokia has begun the process of releasing Android 7.1.1 to Nokia 3. The update will rolled out over-the-air in phases so only a small percentage of device will get the update first, followed by a wider roll out. If the update is ready for your device, you'll get the notification, otherwise you can do a manual check by going to Settings > System Update and then check for updates.

The new comes from HMD Global's Chief Officer, Juho Sarvikas, he wrote on Twiiter "7.1.1 Update approved and will now be rolled out. We will phase it over few days to ensure quality."

To recap, the Nokia 3 is priced at Rs. 9,499, and comes with 5-inch display, 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6737 processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, 8MP front and back cameras and 2630mAh battery. The specs are not top-notch but getting new updates is a big deal. HMD Global has already confirmed that Nokia 3, along with Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 will get treated to Android 8.0 Oreo, when it is ready.
