OnePlus 3 gets Android Oreo update in closed beta group
OnePlus has already confirmed Android Oreo upgrade for the OnePlus 3 & 3T and OnePlus. And now it appears that OnePlus wants to become the first OEM to push Android Oreo to its devices.
According to Android Police OnePlus has started testing Android Oreo on the OnePlus 3 via closed beta group. The testing will soon start on the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 3T as well. After successful testing, OnePlus plans to release an Oreo public beta to these smartphones by end of September.
The report also says that OnePlus 3's beta build is buggy and isn't ready for prime time, with nonfunctional NFC, buggy WiFi, unstable hotspot and Bluetooth connectivity. Infact OnePlus has issued a message to the closed beta users stating that there was a high chance that OTAs/upgrades could go poorly, so it may need to collect device logs if anything goes wrong. OnePlus is also taking steps to fix these issues in the closed beta before rolling out the stable build.
OnePlus has been doing good job in handling updates for its devices, that sits well with the "Never Settle" tag. If everything goes according to plan, OnePlus is most likely to be the first OEM to offer Oreo update to its users.
