Android 7.1.2 rolling out for Nokia 5

The Nokia 5 is getting a new update in the form of Android 7.1.2, that brings along with it, the October security patch.

The update weighs in at 690.2MB in size, and also includes UI enhancements and system stability improvements. It should also bring battery usage alerts, enhanced notification stability, a better fingerprint swipe performance and more.

To remind you, last week Nokia 6 received Android 7.1.2 update along with October security patch level. Also, the Nokia 8's security patch level was bumped to October 2017, but it did not get Android 7.1.2. According to reports, Nokia 8 that currently runs Android 7.1.1 will be skipping 7.1.2 Nougat, and directly be upgrade to Android Oreo.

Android 7.1.2 for Nokia 5 is rolling out over-the-air in phases, meaning only a small number of devices will receive it first, followed by a wider roll out. You'll be notified when the update is available for your device, or you can check for it manually by going to Settings > About phone > System updates. HMD has already promised Android Oreo for Nokia 3.

To recap the specs, the Nokia 5 features 5.2-inch HD display, Snapdragon 430 chip, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, 13MP/8MP camera and 3000mAh battery. It is available in India via offline stores for Rs. 12,499 in Matte Black, Silver, Tempered Blue and Copper colors.
