Honor 9i with full screen display, four cameras launched in India for Rs. 17,999

Huawei introduced its first near bezel-free smartphone Maimang 6 in China last month, and recently launched it in Thailand and Malaysia as nova 2i. Now the phone has reached Indian shores under a different moniker and Honor branding.

Honor, the sub-brand of Huawei just launched the Honor 9i in India, the first smartphone in the country to flaunt full screen display and four cameras. It has been priced at Rs. 17,999 and will be exclusively available on Flipkart starting October 14. It comes in Aurora Blue, Graphite Black and Prestige Gold colors.

In terms of specifications, the Honor 9i features 5.9-inch Full HD+ FullView display with 18:9 aspect ratio, octa-core Kirin 659 processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB of expandable storage, and 3340mAh battery

It has dual camera at the back (16MP+2MP) and front (13MP+2MP). Both front and rear cameras have dedicated flash units and can measure depth of field to create bokeh like effects in portrait shot.

Other features include full metal body, hybrid dual-SIM slots, 4G VoLTE, NFC and fingerprint scanner. It runs Android Nougat based EMUI 5.1 out of the box.

Considering the price and specs, the Honor 9i will be competing with the likes of Moto G5S Plus, Xiaomi Mi Max 2 and Xiaomi Mi A1. All these devices, offer almost the same specs, but Honor 9i has the modern near bezel-less design and larger 18:9 aspect ratio display as its strength, that's currently trending among smartphone makers. The pricing is also reasonable.
