Xiaomi Redmi 5A gets official


Xiaomi has officially announced Redmi 5A, the company's latest affordable device, and the successor of the popular Redmi 4A. The handset brings minimal changes when compared to its predecessor, but now has an all-metal build, slightly smaller battery capacity and new software and improved selfie camera. Nothing else has changed and the fingerprint scanner is still missing.

In terms of specification, the Redmi 5A features 5-inch HD display and is powered by Snapdragon 425 processor. It runs Android Nougat based MIUI 9 and comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage, which can be expanded via microSD card.

For photography, the Redmi 5A rocks 13MP f/2.2 rear camera with PDAF and LED flash, whereas for selfies you get a 5MP shooter on the front. It is fueled by 3000mAh battery and supports dual-SIMs, 4G LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS.

As for the pricing, the Redmi 5A has been priced at CNY 600 (Rs. 6,000 | $91 | 77 euros) and will be up for pre-order in China latest today via Xiaomi Mall, JD.com, Lynx and others. It comes in Cherry Powder, Champagne Gold and Platinum Silver colors. The Redmi 5A will also launch in Europe and India in the coming days.
